It’s so easy to say that it is the Hip Hop music that is spoiling our youth today. Forming an opinion is easy. But what is the basis of this opinion that we form? Just because a bunch of teenagers are too obsessed with listening to free music that is easily available or a few youth are addicted to rap songs… so much so that they “imbibe” them we can’t say that Hip hop is ruining them!
Let’s be fair. What a person does with his or her life is an individual’s choice. Again we may have statistics, and a thousand reports which tell us about the psyche of the children. But more than the music isn’t it about what we do? Isn’t it about us as parents or as a society? More than what a youngster learns from a bunch of rappers, it is what the parents, teachers, education and society teaches the youth that influences him. For that matter, we can say that a youth is made by the effect or albescence of guidance by the four factors I mentioned above and not merely by the distant factors like rap.
